For most official 2.2 ROMS (may work for 2.1) i just update my dell streak 5 from android 2.2.2 to 2.3.3. Just follow this steps http://forum. If your Dell Device have Android 4.2 or New version, Go to Settings option = go to About option = find Build number = Just tap repeatedly for 7 times (4 more taps to open developer options) = Hooray, you are now a Developer (see message) = go back to Settings = you will be able to see the Developer options = open USB Debugging option. This should take you to the recovery menu where you can select option 2 to do the software upgrade from a pkg file # The camera button is used to select items in the menu After upgrading the phone will do a factory reset and 5 or so minutes later you'll be up and running with Android 2.2 (Froyo) It's the official release not a hacked rom. This thread is for the development progress of the Dell Streak 7 running Jelly Bean Android 4.2.1 using Cyanogenmod 10.1 as the basis. It is now being moved up a version, from Alpha 1.0 to Beta 1.

There's still no known way to root the recent OTA update that delivered Android 2.2.2 to the Dell Streak 7, but there is a way to get an already rooted build of the official software—with some of the bloatware removed—onto your device.
The Android 3.2 update will be available for existing customers in the U.S., Europe and Asia for all 3G unlocked Streak models and Wi-Fi only Streak 7 models as well. Similar to the Streak 5 Froyo update, the update will be over-the-air, and users will receive notification of the update on their device.
It requires nothing more than flashing a .zip through ClockworkMod recovery (if you need it: video tutorial here, written instructions below), so it's a painless process that will get you from wherever you are now (unrooted OTA, pre-OTA stock, pre-OTA rooted stock) to rooted 2.2.2 in minutes.
There are two .zips to choose from:
- daveid's official update with root access (via daveid at xda-developers)
- daveid's .zip with DJ_Steve's tweaks (via Hellzya at xda-developers)
Download the one you want (I personally went for the one with DJ_Steve's fingerprints on it) and move it to your Streak 7. It doesn't really matter where you put it; I had problems when moving it to an external SD card for some reason, so you may want to move it to the tablet's internal storage instead.
Once that's done, all you have to do is flash it through ClockworkMod.

Don't have ClockworkMod recovery on your Streak 7 yet? No problem.
- If you're on the pre-OTA rooted stock ROM, flash the recovery through ROM Manager.
- If you're on the pre-OTA unrooted stock ROM, root using SuperOneClick and flash the recovery through ROM ManagerOR flash via fastboot.
- If you're on the unrooted OTA ROM, flash the recovery via fastboot:
- Download the Android SDK and extract it on your C: drive. I renamed the folder 'Android' for simplicity and moved it to the root of the drive, but you can do whatever you want.
- Download ClockworkMod recovery, rename it to 'recovery' for simplicity, and move it to the tools sub-folder in your new Android SDK folder.
- Turn off your Streak 7.
- Turn it back on by holding the volume down (-) and the power button at the same time to enter fastboot mode.
- Connect the Streak 7 to your computer.
- Open a command prompt (in Windows, press Start > All Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt) and navigate to your Android SDK/tools folder. For me, it's in C:Androidtools so I type cd c:androidtools in the command prompt.
- Then type fastboot flash recovery recovery.img and press Enter.

Since there's always some risk involved when flashing a .zip, go ahead and make a Nandroid backup first:
- Turn off your Streak 7.
- Turn it back on by holding down the volume up (+) button and the power button at the same time until the stock recovery menu is shown.
- Select option 2, 'Software update via update.pkg on SD card,' from the menu to go to ClockworkMod.
- In ClockworkMod, use the volume buttons to navigate and the power button to select the following options: backup and restore > Backup > wait for backup to complete > reboot system now. The reboot isn't really necessary, but I always do it anyway. If you choose not to, you can skip ahead to step 4 in the next section.

Now let's get to flashing your chosen .zip from ClockworkMod.
- Turn off your Streak 7.
- Turn it back on by holding down the volume up (+) button and the power button at the same time until the stock recovery menu is shown.
- Select option 2, 'Software update via update.pkg on SD card,' from the menu to go to ClockworkMod.
- In ClockworkMod, use the volume buttons to navigate and the power button to select the following options: install zip from sdcard > choose zip from sdcard > choose .zip file from wherever it is on your card >Yes – install [name].zip > wait for installation to complete > reboot system now.
Enjoy the new Android 2.2.2 with full root on your Dell Streak 7!
If you opted for the .zip with DJ_Steve's tweaks, then here's the kind of Quadrant benchmark score you can expect from it.
The Dell Streak 7 might be a piece of hardware which has been discontinued despite being launched early last year, making it relatively short lived. It must be said that the Dell Streak 7 is one of the first tablets in the world to feature the NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual-core processor, accompanied by a low resolution 800 x 480 resolution display and Android 2.2 Froyo, which was pretty backward then when Android 3.0 Honeycomb with higher resolution displays on tablets were all the rage. Glad to know that there is a community out there who do not mind developing custom ROMs for Dell Streak 7 despite it being discontinued, and here we are with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean being made available – unofficially speaking, of course, for the Dell Streak 7.

Just what will this update bring to the table? We are talking about a faster user interface, an improved search search experience, a superior keyboard, and Google’s reply to Apple’s voice assistant, Siri. Do bear in mind that Android 4.1 Jelly Bean for the Dell Streak 7 is still currently being worked upon, so its fair share of important hardware functions are not in full swing yet, although Bluetooth connectivity, touch sensitivity, and other features still work like a charm.
